Bureau Engineer

About the Role:

Balfour Beatty VINCI is seeking a highly skilled Section Engineer to join our team on the prestigious High Speed 2 project. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and ensuring the successful delivery of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Allocate tasks to site engineers and supervise task completion to ensure timely delivery.
2. Ensure inspection and test plans, and quality check sheets are completed to meet project specifications.
3. Participate in knowledge share events to ensure site engineers and operatives are aware of relevant information.
4. Develop and approve procedures specific to the area of works, ensuring construction methodology is understood.
5. Assess plant and resource requirements with the section foreman to meet site demands.
6. Produce and approve method statements and risk assessments, ensuring they are followed throughout the works.
7. Supervise the erection, use, maintenance, and dismantling of temporary works, as applicable.
8. Carry out checks of the scheme during construction, liaising with the TWC and site team.
9. Prepare and issue temporary works briefs to relevant design departments.
10. Ensure site engineers complete setting out in accordance with design.
11. Ensure design drawings are marked up to reflect works completed as the works are finished.
12. Liaise with other sub-agents to manage site clashes and ensure a smooth flow of work.

Requirements:

1. Degree qualified in civil engineering or equivalent.
2. Previous supervisory or management experience is essential.
3. Experience with structures such as viaducts and bridges on large civil engineering schemes.

About Balfour Beatty VINCI:

Balfour Beatty VINCI is responsible for designing and building part of the most exciting and challenging railway project in Europe: HS2. We are building the West Midlands section of HS2's Phase One route, spanning approximately 90km from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire. This includes:

• 42 viaducts totalling over 11km, 66 over-bridges;
• More than 35 cuttings reaching over 30km;
• 56 culverts and other under-bridges;
• 66 embankments reaching over 33km;
• Building four motorway crossings requiring box structures and six interfaces with the existing rail requiring both dive-under and over-bridge structures.
