This position provides a remarkable chance for a self-motivated individual to preserve and enhance the charm of a beautiful country estate.


Following a significant renovation and landscaping project, the family is in search of a part-time gardener to maintain the formal gardens and assist with various other areas of the estate, which include a greenhouse, a Japanese garden, and a meadow.

You will collaborate closely with the Estate Manager and the Principals to introduce innovative concepts to the gardens.

We are looking for someone who possesses a genuine passion for gardening and is eager to cultivate stunning outdoor environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regular upkeep of garden beds, plants, and formal gardens to ensure they remain well-kept and vibrant.
  • Select suitable plants, flowers, and trees for seasonal planting, ensuring proper care and maintenance throughout the year.
  • Efficient management of irrigation systems.
  • Employ eco-friendly techniques to effectively manage pests and diseases.
  • Prune trees and shrubs as necessary to maintain their shape, health, and visual appeal.
  • Monitor soil conditions and apply appropriate fertilization and soil enhancement methods.
  • Conduct seasonal cleanup tasks such as leaf removal, mulching, and preparing the garden for winter.
  • Oversee greenhouse operations, including propagation, temperature regulation, and plant maintenance.
  • Plant, maintain, and harvest fruits, vegetables, and herbs in the kitchen garden to supply fresh produce for the household.
  • Work collaboratively with other estate staff and contractors to coordinate activities and uphold the overall aesthetics of the estate.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • This role is ideal for a gardener with a true passion for horticulture and a keen eye for detail.
  • Applicants should be hands-on, physically fit, and able to work in various weather conditions.
  • The preferred candidate will possess a Horticultural Qualification, Spray Certificates PA1/PA6, and a Chainsaw Certificate; however, these are not mandatory.
  • Due to the rural setting, personal transportation is required.
