Job Description

As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems within our hospital facilities. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles and a commitment to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret detailed reports, instructions, and drawings to effectively carry out maintenance tasks.
  • Collate data, analyze statistical information, and prepare comprehensive reports on electrical system performance.
  • Delegate and prioritize workload effectively, managing a team of staff under your direct supervision.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to communicate with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Engage with contractors working on site, ensuring strict adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policies.
  • Plan and execute operational tasks at a strategic level to ensure the smooth functioning of electrical systems.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to process information logically and maintain meticulous records.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proven experience in electrical engineering, preferably within an NHS or healthcare setting.
  • Completed a Structured (City & Guilds) training program in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
  • A recognized Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience and knowledge of NHS Estates function and operations.
  • Influencing skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
General Requirements

The role requires physical stamina and the ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces, cramped conditions, and potentially hazardous areas. You must be physically fit and capable of passing a pre-employment medical screening.
