Salary: £47,566 per annum

The Role

As the Lead Maintenance Technician, you will be integral to the production line team, serving as the primary Maintenance Engineer for your designated area. You will collaborate with a management team comprising a Process Lead, Maintenance Lead, and Line Lead.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing specific processes within your area to minimize or eliminate costs associated with equipment maintenance and machine downtimes. Together with the management team, you will analyze losses in the area, formulate action plans, and implement sustainable improvement strategies. As the Engineering specialist on your shift, you will be a vital resource, engaging in various projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and schedule daily maintenance tasks for the production lines.
  • Promote a proactive health and safety culture by addressing unsafe practices.
  • Review and prioritize reported incidents and stoppages from the previous 24 hours.
  • Organize maintenance and repair work for the upcoming 24 hours during scheduled downtimes.
  • Provide updates during Daily Direction Setting meetings regarding upcoming Preventative Maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all overdue work orders are updated, classified, and processed according to urgency and priority.
  • Lead the scheduling of maintenance work for the upcoming week during the weekly maintenance meeting.
  • Manage the repairs budget effectively.
  • Prepare schedules for monthly maintenance work as dictated by the annual maintenance plan.
  • Update technical documentation as necessary.
  • Develop and revise the annual maintenance plan.

The Candidate:

To excel in this role, you will need the following qualifications and experience:

  • HNC/HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline (preferably with an electrical bias).
  • A minimum level 3 electrical qualification.
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement (CI).
  • Strong engineering and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Lean tools and techniques.
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred.
