GRS Group is a dynamic and fast-paced company with a commitment to excellence in the transportation sector. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team as a Lead Driver.

Job Objective

The Lead Driver will play a crucial role in supporting our operations by providing expert driving skills, mentoring other drivers, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a successful team environment while developing your leadership abilities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver bagged aggregates to customers in a timely and professional manner, adhering to EU drivers' hours and Working Time Directive for mobile workers.
  • Provide training and support to other drivers, ensuring high driving standards and adherence to company policies.
  • Conduct driving assessments and assist with the onboarding of new drivers.
  • Collaborate with the Area Transport Manager on driver inductions and assessments, contributing to a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Maintain vehicle safety and condition according to company policy, reporting any faults promptly.
  • Ensure secure loading and restraining of the vehicle within legal weight limits.
  • Drive efficiently while complying with traffic laws and prioritizing safety.
  • Represent GRS Group professionally on the road and at customer sites.
  • Assist in yard duties and other tasks during non-driving periods.
  • Complete reports and documentation accurately and timely.

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months experience as an HGV Class 1 Driver.
  • Prior experience with tipper bodies.
  • Valid Drivers CPC and Tachograph Cards.
  • Experience in training other drivers.
  • Thorough knowledge of Driver's Hours, WTD, and transport industry regulations.
