Job Title: Principal EICA Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal EICA Engineer to join our multidisciplinary Innovation, Design & Solutions (IDS) department in our Southampton office. The successful candidate will have a background in electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (EICA) and will be responsible for leading the design of projects covering water treatment, water distribution and storage.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and understand project requirements from client documents, including drawings, specifications, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate site condition surveys of existing assets and drive a health and safety focus throughout the design process.
  • Communicate with internal teams, clients, external design resources, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Develop electrical design deliverables, including design sketches, drawings, and schedules, to facilitate the procurement and installation of electrical equipment.
  • Support the Process Engineering team in the development of Process Control Philosophy documents and User Requirement Specification (URS) documents.
  • Provide technical support to site teams during installation and commissioning.
  • Manage project-specific design interfaces with clients, external consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Monitor design effort against estimates and programmes, and identify and escalate all instances of design change throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and mentor junior design staff throughout the design development lifecycle, ensuring all designs comply with relevant UK water industry standards and regulations.
Requirements:
  • BTEC/HNC/HND/BEng qualification in an EICA Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in delivering multi-discipline engineering projects, particularly in the water industry.
