Revitalizing the Christian Community in Cowpen

The Bishop of Newcastle is seeking a full-time priest to partner with the Additional Curates Society in the Benefice of Cowpen St Benedict, Blyth. This three-year initiative aims to revitalize the Christian community in the Cowpen estate, leveraging the church's role in times of celebration, grief, and change.

The ideal candidate will be an energetic and courageous priest, able to engage with people of diverse ages and backgrounds, communicating the Gospel in a way that brings the Word alive in their daily lives. The PCC has requested extended episcopal care from the Bishop of Beverley.

The church building is modern and well-placed, with a community garden space. The diocese and ACS are committed to supporting mission and ministry in the parish, building on the work begun in this initial period. Growing relationships with neighboring parishes across the town offer opportunities for collaboration and growth.

This role presents a chance for an entrepreneurial priest to build something from the ground up, turning innovative ideas into concrete action. The Bishop of Beverley writes: 'Thank you for considering Cowpen St Benedict as the next phase in your priestly ministry. This role has enormous potential for both the priest and people of the parish. The Diocese of Newcastle, in partnership with the Additional Curates Society, is committed to supporting mission and renewal in Cowpen.'
