Job Description:

We are working with a well-established architectural practice to recruit a Principal Designer or Architectural Technician to join their team. The key aspect of this role is to monitor and update all drawing packages to adhere to recent changes in building regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Managing Design Work: Develop and implement design strategies to ensure compliance with building regulations and industry standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with design and construction processes.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all design work adheres to relevant building regulations, including fire safety, energy efficiency, and accessibility standards.
  • Client Advising: Provide expert advice to clients on design and construction matters, ensuring that their needs are met and their expectations are exceeded.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Experience in design and construction processes.
  • Effective communication and project management skills.
  • Professional qualifications in construction, engineering, or architecture, often supported by health and safety certifications.

Recent changes to the UK Building Regulations reflect the government's push toward improving safety, energy efficiency, and sustainability. The person appointed to this position must have recent working knowledge of:

  • Fire Safety (Part B)
  • Energy Efficiency (Part L)
  • Ventilation (Part F)
  • Electric Vehicle Charging (Part S)
  • Accessibility (Part M)
  • Overheating (Part O)
  • Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Retrofitting and Existing Buildings
