The Courtauld Institute of Art is seeking a distinguished scholar of British art to fill the newly created Manton Professorship of British Art. As the inaugural Director of the Manton Centre for British Art, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of British art studies.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Manton Centre for British Art as its Director, overseeing its administrative and scholarly team.
- Develop a rich programme of research events, manage the Centre's operations, and oversee an ambitious visiting scholar's initiative.
- Co-ordinate the Manton scholarships programme, supporting MA and PhD students working on British art.
- Lead on the development of new research and curatorial projects associated with the Centre.
- Explore and instigate new partnerships with other institutions and individuals interested in the history of British art.
- Teach on The Courtauld's undergraduate and post-graduate programmes, supervise PhD students, and pursue high-level research.
- Play a leading role in The Courtauld's academic and curatorial community, and across the wider scholarly field of British art.
We are looking for an art-historian specializing in any period of British art, with a strong track-record as researchers and teachers, and an ambitious, innovative contribution to the field of British art studies. You should demonstrate leadership qualities, articulate a clear vision for both the new Centre and for the future of British art studies, and be able to inspire and motivate others.
