Principal Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join our Materials and Mechanical Metrology department at NPL. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of instrumentation and metrology projects, providing technical expertise that informs our strategy and shapes our site infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of system requirements and specifications
  • Design and develop complex systems and sub-systems
  • Conduct technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options
  • Manage interface documents and baselines
  • Apply end-to-end systems analysis and modeling
  • Develop instrument performance models and specifications
  • Manage technical budgets and tolerances
  • Develop assembly, integration, and test plans
  • Manage the assembly, integration, and testing of systems and sub-systems
  • Deliver complex hardware and software systems
  • Plan and coordinate internal and external reviews
  • Document system design, processes, and test results
  • Liaise with specialists to ensure performance and requirements are met
  • Generate and review technical proposals
