Job Summary:

NES Fircroft is seeking an experienced Instrument Technician to join our team at Saltend Chemical Park. As an Instrument Technician, you will provide day-based engineering support services to the assets at the site, working with minimal supervision as part of a team of operations, instrument, electrical, and mechanical personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-based engineering support services to the assets at the site, including breakdown and preventative maintenance, repair, and installation of Instrument equipment.
  • Interact with the maintenance coordination team, discipline engineers, and operations technicians to understand daily plant issues and deliver solutions.
  • Work with permit signatories daily to discuss and prepare permit requests, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Liaise with other trade disciplines and supervisors for scaffolding and lagging when required to support specific jobs.
  • Become conversant within the permit system.
  • Carry out enabling isolations on the site's Instrument systems.
  • Fault finding following equipment failure, identifying problems, and resolving them within a specified timescale while minimizing costs.
  • Operate, maintain, and install Instrument systems in accordance with appropriate standards and procedures.
  • Work within the Control of Work system and accompanying Site Safety Orders.
  • Supervise and facilitate people and work where required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a recognized apprenticeship and NVQ3 or equivalent.
  • ONC (HNC preferred).
  • CompEX modules 01 – 04 certificate.
  • BS7671 (current edition) IET Requirements for Electrical Installation certificate preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with the SAP PM model.
  • Sound IT skills.
  • Working knowledge of Temperature, Pressure, Flow, and Level systems.
  • Knowledge of DCS, PLC, and emergency shutdown systems.
