NHS Western Isles is seeking to recruit Podiatrists to become part of their enthusiastic and forward-thinking team located in a rural general hospital, set in one of the most breathtaking regions of the UK.

This role offers the potential for either an experienced Podiatrist specializing in general practice (Band 6) or a recent graduate eager to enhance their clinical expertise. The latter position would initially be at Band 5, with opportunities for advancement to Band 6 under Annexe T.

Experienced Podiatrists will be expected to deliver a high standard of care across various settings and manage all aspects of podiatry effectively.

New graduates will have the chance to gain valuable experience in areas such as MSK, wound care, advanced vascular assessments, nail surgery, and orthotic manufacture, with opportunities to specialize based on individual interests.

We offer a unique opportunity to live and work within our beautiful rural island community, where you can engage in a variety of outdoor and cultural activities, including kayaking, climbing, hill walking, and diving, as well as partake in traditional crafts and music-related pursuits. Housing is affordable, and schools provide excellent education, allowing children to enjoy a rich social life with activities such as dancing, art clubs, music lessons, drama clubs, scouting, and running clubs.

The Podiatry Department is committed to recognizing and developing the skills of its staff, encouraging all team members to pursue training both locally and on the mainland. Our facilities include an excellent Clinical Skills Centre, Sim Lab, postgraduate library, and a small orthotics laboratory.

Currently, our team consists of 3.84 WTE podiatrists specializing in General Practice, alongside two Extended Scope Practitioners. You will be part of a team dedicated to providing the highest quality podiatric care, encompassing MSK, diabetes, wound management, nail surgery, and general podiatry. Our service is fully integrated, delivering both primary and secondary care from modern, well-equipped clinics.
