About the Role

This business is a leader within the Fresh Produce space and due to recent success is expanding its team to hire two Category Buyers.

Job Summary

As a Category Buyer for Fresh Produce, you will be part of the team responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing fresh produce for the organization. You will be tasked with developing category strategies for the allocated categories within the overall fresh produce category.

Key Responsibilities
  • Find potential suppliers, visit, and meet existing suppliers, building, and maintaining relationships.
  • Negotiate best price on key product categories ensuring quality and technical requirements are met.
  • Manage suppliers' relationships both home and abroad.
  • Manage key internal relationships with supply chain, sales, operations, logistics, and quality teams.
  • Communicate with suppliers to ensure delivery requirements are met.
  • Research and source new products.
  • Ensure suppliers' performance is managed to meet requirements.
  • Support sales and NPD (New Product Development) activities.
Requirements
  • Previous Fresh Produce procurement category experience (ideally at least 5 years), preferably in Foodservice, Wholesale, or FMCG environment.
  • Strong capability in analysis and use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Great at stakeholder management across the business, comfortable in front of customers, suppliers, and senior management.
  • Utilizing Category Management or Sourcing processes.
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commercial and market awareness.
Benefits

Category Buyer - Fresh Produce | £60,000 - £70,000 + 10% Bonus + 25 days annual leave + additional benefits.
