We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Medical Oncologist to join our team at the Sussex Cancer Centre, University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in breast and colorectal cancer, as well as experience in the delivery of clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality clinical care to patients with breast and colorectal cancer
- Lead and participate in clinical trials, ensuring the delivery of innovative treatments to patients
- Attend multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to discuss patient care and treatment plans
- Prescribe and oversee the administration of systemic anticancer therapies (SACT)
- Supervise and mentor non-medical staff, ensuring the delivery of excellent patient care
- Contribute to clinical governance, service development, and ward reviews
- Participate in education and training for junior medical staff, medical students, and allied health professionals
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:
- Basic medical degree (MB BS, FRCR, or equivalent)
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
- CCT in clinical oncology or equivalent
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 12 months of the start date
We would welcome applications from candidates with the following qualifications and experience:
- Higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD)
- Breadth of experience in and outside specialty
- Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
- Understanding of NHS and clinical governance principles
- Managerial skills, including achievements and course attendance
- Research experience, publications, prizes, and honors
