Job Title: Specialist Optometrist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Optometrist to join our team at Compass Recruitment Solutions. As a Specialist Optometrist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and working closely with our team of Ophthalmologists to deliver high-quality eye care services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out examinations associated with cataract surgery
  • Run acute and follow-up clinics post-surgery for patients, documenting findings in electronic medical records
  • Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital
  • Provide first-line clinical advice to patients and refer to medical practitioners as necessary
  • Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending mandatory update courses
  • Help control cross-infection by enforcing hospital policies on uniform, cleanliness, and decontamination
  • Document and report accidents or incidents correctly
  • Identify ways to improve processes and service to ensure a streamlined, efficient, and high-quality service for patients
  • Build relationships with patients to understand their individual needs and provide suitable treatment solutions
  • Provide explanations to patients about treatment and answer their questions fully
  • Responsible for achieving set conversion rates from consultation to treatment booking
  • Ensure compliance with pre-authorisation processes and collection of surgery deposits

Requirements:

  • GOC Registered
  • Minimum 2 years post-registration experience in the UK
  • Experience working in a clinical or hospital setting
  • Experience in refraction
  • Experience using patient administration systems and electronic medical records
  • Cataract experience (desirable); training can be provided
  • IP qualification (desirable); training can be provided
