Job Title: Assistant Curator - Primates

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Curator - Primates to join our team at Twycross Zoo. As a key member of our animal management team, you will be responsible for the care and well-being of our primate species, including great apes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional leadership and management to a large team, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve animal care and welfare, in line with best practice and zoo licensing requirements.
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure the health and well-being of our animals, including preventative medicine programs and reactive care.
  • Work closely with other departments to support conservation education and research initiatives.
  • Represent the zoo on professional and scientific bodies, promoting our profile and reputation as a leading centre for animal management and conservation.
Requirements:
  • BSc (or equivalent) in an animal or conservation-related subject, with a strong background in primate care and management.
  • Extensive knowledge of modern practices for keeping a wide range of primates in zoos, including great apes.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of knowledge of breeding program management and species planning.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work and produce high-quality results in a timely manner.
