Carbon Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Carbon Manager to join our team at the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) on the Sizewell C project. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in managing and delivering the carbon reduction commitments for this pioneering energy project.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Alliance ESG Strategic Operations Lead to develop and implement carbon reduction strategies and plans.
- Manage the creation of carbon routemap plans and strategies to meet targets, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Support the development of carbon management resources and document templates, promoting a culture of sustainability across the project.
- Design, implement, and track carbon training programs, ensuring all project stakeholders are equipped to contribute to low-carbon initiatives.
- Embed and support carbon management across project functions, including procurement, commercial, and logistics, to minimize environmental impact.
- Oversee project client carbon reporting and deliverables, including baselines, forecasts, and progress reports, to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Provide guidance on carbon assessment and impact mitigation to project teams, ensuring all decisions are informed by a thorough understanding of carbon implications.
- Promote low-carbon innovations within the supply chain, fostering partnerships and collaborations that drive sustainability.
- Manage and support the development and implementation of low-carbon enhancements and incentive business cases, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
- Assist technical delivery groups with low-carbon solutions for fuel, asphalt, concrete, and steel, ensuring all materials and processes are optimized for minimal environmental impact.
- A science-based background with a relevant BSc or equivalent qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Carbon, Energy, or a related field.
- A solid understanding of carbon impact and mitigation issues on major infrastructure schemes, with experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) reporting.
- Familiarity with carbon reporting standards and regulatory regimes, including PAS 2080 (2023).
- Proficiency in Office applications and analytical tools, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Determination and excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment.
