Candidate Profile
You should possess extensive experience in mental health services, demonstrating your ability to collaborate effectively within clinical teams.

Active NMC registration is a requirement.
Key Responsibilities of a Senior Staff Nurse include:
- Strategically planning, organizing, and deploying staff based on competencies and workload to meet patient requirements.
- Developing, implementing, reviewing, and advocating for effective, outcome-focused care plans tailored to individual preferences and needs, while actively participating in ward rounds.
- Facilitating effective communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), taking calculated risks to manage the care environment and minimize restrictive practices.
- Cultivating and maintaining ongoing relationships with patients, their families, and caregivers to foster trust, while attentively listening to and addressing their needs and concerns.
- Ensuring that all patient records, including risk assessments and interventions, are meticulously maintained and accurate.
- Utilizing reflection and supervision to learn from experiences and create opportunities for enhancing patient outcomes.
- Providing and receiving clinical supervision.
- Supporting the division in achieving specific outcome measures.
- Conducting necessary ward audits in alignment with the Clinical Governance strategy.
About Elgar Ward:
This is a 12-bed facility dedicated to adult women who have experienced acquired or traumatic brain injuries, requiring tailored care programs to facilitate recovery and reintegration into the community.
Elgar Ward is a female admission service that offers continuous support and interventions to address various behavioral and cognitive challenges, including inappropriate social behavior and self-harm risks. We assist patients in enhancing their daily living skills, cognitive abilities, and behavioral management in a secure environment, supported by a comprehensive multidisciplinary team (MDT). Following treatment, patients are guided towards less restrictive settings at St Andrew's or their local communities.
