Job Title: Activity Leader

Barracudas Activity Day Camps is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Activity Leader to join our team. As an Activity Leader, you will be responsible for delivering a variety of activities to children aged 5-14, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of a suitable base room area, ensuring it is inviting and safe for children.
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure a fun and safe environment for children.
  • Deliver activity sessions as per the prepared timetable, working with other staff to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for children.
  • Provide active supervision and attention to children at all times, including breaks and lunchtimes.
  • Use resources to plan and deliver a variety of activities, incorporating children's interests and needs.
  • Encourage maximum participation and engagement from children.
  • Take responsibility for the general welfare and safeguarding of children.
  • Ensure the safe use of equipment and its proper storage.
Requirements:
  • Experience or qualifications working with children.
  • Aged 18 or over by the start date of the contract.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Provide satisfactory professional/academic references.
  • Enthusiastic, caring, and organized with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable challenges in a childcare setting.
  • Enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Attend a Virtual Assessment Event (if new to Barracudas).
  • Complete Online Training annually.
  • Attend Induction Training Day before the first working season.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the company fulfills all Health and Safety obligations.
  • Deliver activities that are appropriate for children's ages and abilities.
  • Encourage children to participate in new activities and follow the activity programme.
  • Ensure children behave safely and respect their individual needs.
  • Follow camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, Health and Safety systems, and guidelines on good practice in child welfare.
  • Be a positive role model, promoting a healthy lifestyle and good hygiene practices.
  • Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to the Senior Team or Designated Person.
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with additional needs or medical conditions.
