About the RoleThis exciting opportunity is part of the Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) initiative, a government-led program aimed at increasing access to support for emotional wellbeing and mental health in schools. As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing a Whole School Approach (WSA) to emotional wellbeing and mental health, working closely with education staff to ensure that children and young people receive the support they need.
Main Responsibilities- Deliver interventions within schools and colleges, holding an individual caseload and working with children and young people experiencing emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties.
- Develop and implement CBT interventions for anxiety, low mood, and behavioral problems, both individually and in groups.
- Supervise junior colleagues, providing guidance and support to ensure they can deliver high-quality services.
- Work closely with education staff to develop and implement a WSA to emotional wellbeing and mental health, promoting joint working with other services to ensure children and young people receive the support they need.
- Graduate qualification in a relevant field, such as nursing, social work, occupational therapy, or a related discipline.
- Registration with the relevant professional body, such as the HCPC, NMC, BPS, or BABCP.
- Experience delivering CBT interventions to children and young people, with a strong understanding of the education system in the UK.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, their families, carers, and other professional colleagues.
