Job Title: Senior Mental Health Practitioner

Join NELFT NHS Foundation Trust as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner and become part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering high-quality mental health services to children and young people.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity is part of the Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) initiative, a government-led program aimed at increasing access to support for emotional wellbeing and mental health in schools. As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing a Whole School Approach (WSA) to emotional wellbeing and mental health, working closely with education staff to ensure that children and young people receive the support they need.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver interventions within schools and colleges, holding an individual caseload and working with children and young people experiencing emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties.
  • Develop and implement CBT interventions for anxiety, low mood, and behavioral problems, both individually and in groups.
  • Supervise junior colleagues, providing guidance and support to ensure they can deliver high-quality services.
  • Work closely with education staff to develop and implement a WSA to emotional wellbeing and mental health, promoting joint working with other services to ensure children and young people receive the support they need.
Requirements
  • Graduate qualification in a relevant field, such as nursing, social work, occupational therapy, or a related discipline.
  • Registration with the relevant professional body, such as the HCPC, NMC, BPS, or BABCP.
  • Experience delivering CBT interventions to children and young people, with a strong understanding of the education system in the UK.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, their families, carers, and other professional colleagues.

NELFT NHS Foundation Trust is committed to supporting our employees holistically, offering a range of benefits and opportunities to help you achieve a work-life balance. These include:

  • A long-standing and award-winning approach to equality and diversity, with supportive networks for ethnic minority staff, staff with disabilities or long-term/chronic conditions, and LGBT staff.
  • A commitment to flexible working, with opportunities to work part-time hours or flexible patterns to promote a healthy work-life balance.
  • Proactive health and wellbeing support, including access to our employee assistance program, staff psychological support, individual wellbeing conversations, and a network of health and wellbeing ambassadors.
