Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Technical Expert in Ecology to join our growing Nature Positive team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and managing our ecological design work packages, ensuring high-quality and accurate results. Your expertise will be essential in delivering projects for our diverse portfolio of UK clients.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage ecological design work packages, ensuring collaborative working practices and high-quality results.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to project teams, ensuring design quality and accuracy within the ecology discipline.
  • Mentor and develop staff, promoting a 'right first time' culture and ensuring design approach consistency.
  • Establish and implement project plans for allocated work packages, coordinating forecasts, cost, and revenue budgets.
  • Coordinate resource allocation between design teams and projects, ensuring effective management and response to project-related correspondence.
  • Liaise with design teams, associated disciplines, and external parties to ensure design consent and compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Manage and document fee, programme, and scope changes, ensuring delivery of project requirements and outcomes to time, within budget, and to client specifications.
  • Maintain strong and positive external business relationships, enhancing company reputation and contributing to business growth.

Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant environmental subject.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Chartered status or working towards.
  • Holding relevant licenses, such as GCN and/or bat license.
  • ECI Contract experience on infrastructure projects would be an advantage.
  • Standardized habitat survey methodologies (Phase 1, NVC, etc.).
  • UK protected and invasive species.
  • Key Environmental/Ecological legislation.
  • Faunal survey methodologies.
  • Biodiversity Action Planning.
  • Habitat creation techniques.
  • Ecological Management Plans.
  • Habitat management theory and practice.
  • UK species identification and taxonomy.
  • Conservation management and planning.
  • Environmental condition assessment.
  • Arboricultural Expertise.
  • Experience in Biodiversity off-setting / No Net Loss.
