Indirect Tax Manager

About the Role
CHEP, a pioneer of the sharing economy, is seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Manager to join its European Tax team. As a key colleague, you will collaborate closely with the European Indirect Tax Compliance Team to ensure compliance with indirect tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Controllership to ensure accurate capture and adherence to indirect tax requirements, particularly in European Continuous Transactions Controls (CTCs) and VAT compliance.
- Oversee VAT filing and refund claims processes in Europe, ensuring robust maintenance and compliance.
- Monitor indirect tax rule developments and implement necessary changes to CHEP's VAT processes and systems.
Indirect Tax Process Improvements
- Plan and futureproof VAT processes and software systems, liaising with Controllership to transform compliance requirements into process updates and system optimizations.
- Evaluate opportunities for artificial intelligence (AI) and automation in VAT processes, supporting analysis and deployment of related process/system improvements.
Management of Process Documentation
- Ensure key indirect tax processes are properly documented, overseeing the creation and update of Indirect Tax Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Special Project Support
- Provide VAT technical analysis and support as required for ongoing and new tax projects.
VAT Audit Support
- Collaborate with the Indirect Tax Director, Europe, and Controllership Team to manage and resolve tax enquiries, audits, and exposures.
Qualifications and Experience
- University graduate degree and recognized tax/accountancy qualification.
- 5+ years of experience in indirect tax, preferably with managing internal indirect tax affairs of multiple European jurisdictions.
- Strong Excel skills and experience working in a Big 4/Tier A Accountancy firm or Blue-Chip in-house tax department.
