An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Hospital Sterilisation and Disinfection Unit Technician at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.
Job ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for the supply and maintenance of surgical instruments used in surgical and medical procedures. This will involve checking instruments into the department after use, cleaning, disinfecting, packaging, sterilising, and delivering them back to operating theatres, wards, departments, clinics, and GP surgeries.
The ideal candidate will have a good standard of education with literacy and numeracy skills, as well as basic computer skills. They will be required to read small letters on instruments and follow written instructions. A short test will be part of the interview process, and a full tour of the unit will be given.
About the RoleThis is a fully flexible job role, and shift patterns may be changed at short notice. The successful candidate will be required to work permanent weekends with a backfill day off in the week. On-call and bank holiday working on a rota are essential.
The pay scale is Band 2, plus enhancement pay after 20:00 to 06:00 as per Agenda for Change terms and conditions. Weekends are also at an enhanced rate.
