Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Student Midwife. This is an exciting opportunity for an Adult Nurse to transition into a midwifery career and gain the skills and knowledge required to become a confident and responsive midwife.

About the Role

The Student Midwife will work under the direction of a qualified midwife and will be employed on a fixed-term contract for the duration of the course. The course is led by the University of Hertfordshire and is an innovative, flexible, work-based program that develops the skills and knowledge of qualified adult nurses who want to become midwives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in clinical placements in various settings, including community midwifery, midwifery-led birthing units, labour suites, antenatal clinics, health visitor placements, and neonatal units.
  • Develop skills and knowledge in holistic care, recognizing and managing problems in childbearing women.
  • Work collaboratively with the University of Hertfordshire to complete the theoretical component of the course.

Person Specification
  • Active registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Registered Nurse (Adult) first-level status.
  • A Degree or Diploma in Higher Education or 60 level 5 credits.
  • 6 months full-time post-registration experience within the last 2 years.
