Key Responsibilities- Manage and prioritize a development management caseload, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and organizational policies.
- Process development applications, carrying out consultations and notifications as required.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and data management in the planning database.
- Conduct site inspections and provide reports and recommendations on each application.
- Offer guidance and support to administrative and technical staff.
- Assist the enforcement officer with complaints and breaches of planning control.
- Provide planning evidence and statements for appeals and court appearances.
- Collaborate with other officers and organizations to process and determine development control enquiries.
- Contribute to the preparation of policies and guidance notes.
- Attend relevant committee meetings to provide advice and recommendations.
- Maintain professional competence in the field of Town Planning.
- Promote a positive and inclusive working environment.
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A degree in Town Planning or equivalent, with a postgraduate planning qualification.
- Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (or working towards it).
- Experience in handling various types of planning applications.
- The ability to manage conflicting demands and work under pressure.
- Strong presentation skills (desirable).
- Proficiency in planning application databases.
- Familiarity with political issues in the context of development management.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Windows, Word, and Outlook.
- Effective report-writing skills.
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation.
- The ability to interpret plans, drawings, and reports submitted with planning applications.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Experience in collaborative work.
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a car.
