Job Summary

Matchtech Energy is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Principal Pipelines Engineer to lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers in the successful design and execution of pipeline projects.

About the Role

As a Principal Pipelines Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the engineering design activities for onshore and offshore rigid pipelines across all project phases, including concept selection, FEED, and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering design activities for onshore and offshore rigid pipelines across all project phases, including concept selection, FEED, and execution.
  • Act as Project Design Lead on large projects, managing discipline engineers and designers, and ensuring the quality of pipeline work.
  • Supervise and review pipeline activities, including mechanical design, stress analysis, and installation considerations.
  • Collaborate with CAD designers to develop layouts and pipeline drawings.
  • Prepare technical requisitions, compile ITTs, and perform bid evaluations.
  • Validate pipeline inspection and maintenance strategies, including Emergency Pipeline Repair Services.
  • Conduct site visits to manufacturers and check third-party design and installation activities during project execution.
  • Liaise with other disciplines such as Process, Material and Corrosion, Flow Assurance, and Civil Engineering during project execution.
  • Stay updated on pipeline design standards, legislative requirements, and Company HSEQ policies.
  • Ensure safety and environmental standards are maintained, and quality assurance processes are followed.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in the Oil and Gas industry, particularly in the design and installation of onshore and offshore rigid pipelines.
  • Proficiency in pipeline design software, including DNVGL SESAM pipeline suite, PET, AutoPipe, and SAGE Profile.
  • Familiarity with Ansys, ABAQUS, and Orcaflex is desirable.
  • Knowledge of UK and international codes and standards (e.g., BS, DNV, ISO, API, ASME).
  • Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Motivation to develop into a high-level technical expert.

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate will have a Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline such as Pipeline Engineering, Subsea Pipeline Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
