Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dietetic Project Support Specialist to join the Cardiff Flying Start Dietetic Team.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills to join our busy and friendly department of Public Health Dietitians and support workers.

A baseline knowledge of healthy eating and experience of working with groups is an advantage. Additional training will be provided.

The ability to travel around Cardiff is essential for this post.

Main Responsibilities

The post-holder will work across Flying Start areas in Cardiff to support the delivery of community-based nutrition interventions and practical food-based sessions.

They will be required to work with young children, their families, and a wide range of teams and professionals under the supervision of Flying Start Dietitians.

Examples of food initiatives already underway in Cardiff include Get Cooking, the Gold Standard Healthy Snack Award, Little Cooks, and Nutrition Skills for Life courses for families and staff.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the delivery of community-based nutrition interventions and practical food-based sessions.
  • Working with young children, their families, and a wide range of teams and professionals.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with local communities and stakeholders.
  • Providing information and guidance on healthy eating and nutrition.
  • Collaborating with other teams and professionals to achieve shared goals.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good general education.
  • Experience of working with people.
  • Knowledge of a healthy balanced diet.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
