We are seeking a skilled Proposal Lead to become an integral part of the Genomic Surveillance Unit (GSU) at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. This pivotal position involves overseeing all proposal activities for the GSU.
The GSU is committed to improving public health worldwide by promoting the application and influence of genomic surveillance. Our team develops innovative products, tools, and services that enable public health organizations to incorporate genomic data into their decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the comprehensive proposal process, from identifying opportunities to ensuring successful outcomes.
- Act as the primary representative of GSU in all proposal-related interactions with potential clients and funding bodies.
- Collaborate with opportunity leads and teams to craft effective win strategies for each proposal, ensuring that key themes are both clear and persuasive.
- Evaluate the viability of opportunities and their alignment with GSU's objectives, providing insights to the leadership team.
- Oversee the proposal budget, tracking associated costs and monitoring performance against established KPIs.
- Drive ongoing enhancements in GSU's proposal processes through thorough post-proposal evaluations, both internally and with external stakeholders.

- Confidence in coordinating contributions from subject matter experts, writers, and designers, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with virtual teams, funders, and external partners.
- Experience in setting clear deadlines, delegating tasks, and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Proficiency in reviewing and refining proposal content to ensure adherence to specifications and guidelines.
- A focus on key performance metrics such as win rates and proposal costs.
