Job Title: Oncology Associate Nurse Specialist

At Nova Healthcare, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Oncology Associate Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support the delivery of clinical services to Nova Healthcare patients, including Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Brachytherapy, Robot Assisted Surgery, and Gamma Knife services.
  2. Undertake annual SACT, UKONs, and relevant national and local competency training and updates.
  3. Collaborate with the Clinic Manager and Gamma Knife Manager to ensure seamless patient care.
  4. Review patient progress before, during, and after treatment, ensuring timely and effective care.
  5. Assist in nurse-led radiotherapy review clinics, assessing patients and managing their ongoing needs.
  6. Deliver chemotherapy to patients within agreed protocols, actively reviewing patients during treatment.
  7. Support the Gamma Knife service as required, providing patient teaching, preparation, treatment, and follow-up care.
  8. Provide chaperone and support to consultants and patients, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
  9. Ensure consulting rooms and clinical areas are equipped with necessary supplies and equipment, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  10. Conduct investigations professionally and efficiently, adhering to Nova Healthcare procedures and policies.
  11. Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment, restocking consumables, and reporting maintenance needs.
  12. Manage patient allocation efficiently, adapting to changing unit needs.
  13. Collect and input data related to billing for treatments and investigations.
  14. Respond to telephone enquiries in a courteous and efficient manner.
  15. Monitor and report equipment maintenance needs, ensuring optimal functionality.
  16. Demonstrate a commitment to training and development, maintaining and updating knowledge, competence, and skills.
  17. Assist new team members by demonstrating duties in a professional manner.
  18. Ensure the safekeeping of departmental keys, medicines, and prescription pads, adhering to current legislation.
  19. Ensure security of the department at the end of the working day.
  20. Communicate effectively with consultants and multidisciplinary team members to ensure high-quality patient care.
  21. Accept responsibility for clinical decisions and those of junior colleagues, adhering to professional codes of conduct.
  22. Demonstrate effectiveness as a consistent role model and unit representative.
  23. Contribute to departmental audits, collating information and promoting evidence-based practice.
  24. Participate in setting, monitoring, and improving standards and quality of patient care, promoting evidence-based practice.
