Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Oversight: Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain focused and engaged in their tasks.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement and uphold the school's behaviour policy, maintaining a calm and orderly atmosphere.
  • Lesson Facilitation: Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and ensure students comprehend the tasks and expectations.
  • Learning Support: Assist students with their work and promote a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Safeguarding: Monitor the safety and well-being of students, reporting any concerns in accordance with school policies.
  • Effective Communication: Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure smooth transitions between lessons and effective handover of class responsibilities.
  • Punctuality: Ensure timely arrival at classes, transitions between sessions, and completion of administrative duties.

A Day in the Life

Your day will typically commence with a briefing session where you will receive the schedule and lesson plans for the classes you will supervise. You may move between different classrooms, ensuring timely and prepared arrivals.

During each session, you will introduce the lesson, ensure students understand their tasks, and manage any behavioural issues that arise. Between lessons, you might handle administrative tasks, provide feedback to teachers, or assist with lunchtime supervision.

Your day concludes with a debrief where you share insights and observations with teaching staff to ensure continuity in student learning.
