Acumen's 'Hardest to Reach' (H2R) Impact Debt Fund focuses on bringing clean energy access to underserved populations in Sub-Saharan Africa. Recognizing that millions remain without electricity due to remote locations and limited investment, H2R aims to bridge this gap by supporting off-grid solar enterprises.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Investment Professional to join our growing team. You will play a key role in sourcing, evaluating, underwriting, and managing private credit investments for off-grid solar companies within H2R's target markets.
Responsibilities:- Lead multiple transactions throughout the entire deal lifecycle, from origination to closing, with a focus on financial and impact due diligence.
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and build robust financial models for potential investments.
- Prepare compelling Investment Memoranda and present investment opportunities to the Investment Committee.
- Collaborate closely with Sustainable Development Impact (SDI) and Health, Safety, Environment, and Social (HSES) teams on respective assessments.
- Work effectively with internal teams to ensure smooth client onboarding, KYC checks, and related tasks.
- Monitor investment performance closely, understanding key issues and identifying areas for intervention.
- Ensure compliance with covenants, conduct periodic/annual reviews, examine amendments and waiver requests, and provide performance updates to managers.
- Identify warning signals, participate in portfolio reviews, and cooperate in the validation of impact data collection and analysis.
- Collaborate with borrowers to incentivize the expansion of first-time clean energy access.
- Minimum 5 years of work experience, including at least 3 years in finance, ideally in an investment capacity leading or supporting debt and/or equity transactions.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to build financial models for complex investments.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey financial information to diverse audiences.
- A passion for social impact and a commitment to driving positive change in underserved communities.
