Assistant Psychologist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join our newly developed trauma-informed service in partnership with the Newcastle Local Authority. This innovative service is part of a national NHS England 2-year pilot to deliver extended services for children and young people with complex trauma.
The team includes senior psychologists and psychological therapists, advanced practitioners, speech and language therapists, assistant psychology, and Peer Support workers, who will be employed by Cumbria Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Trust and seconded into Newcastle Council.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe role will involve supporting the team in formulating the needs of children and young people in the local authority who may be considered to present high risk to themselves, high risk to others, or are highly vulnerable within external relationships. The successful candidate will work indirectly, collecting data, maintaining data sets, and liaising with carers. Opportunities for direct work with young people are limited in this role.
As part of a wider team, the Assistant Psychologist will support consultations, assessments, and formulation with professionals and carers working with children and young people to support the principles of the Integrated Care Framework:
- Children and Young People and the relationships they experience are at the centre of all care they receive through genuine co-production.
- Those spending most time with young people are the primary facilitators of change.
We strive to attract and retain a diverse, talented, and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future.
Person Specification- 2:1 psychology degree
- Understanding of trauma-informed care
- Experience of trauma-informed care
