Lead Your Science Department to Success

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Biology to join our dedicated Science department at an Excellent Private School in Cardiff. As a key member of our academic team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our students.

Your New Role

As Head of Biology, you will be responsible for leading a team of 11 teachers and 3 technicians, developing and implementing schemes of work, and ensuring the department's continued success. You will also be responsible for reporting to the Director of Academic Studies on staff performance and holding members accountable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement schemes of work for the department
  • Hold departmental meetings to ensure all colleagues have an input
  • Take responsibility for departmental and self-evaluation
  • Report to the Director of Academic Studies on staff performance
  • Teach KS- KS5 biology and ensure targets are met
  • Liaise with other heads of departments and parents to provide updates
  • Report on the progress of pupils in conjunction with the ALNco's plans
What You'll Need

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Qualified teaching status or PCET with Science experience
  • Experience of leading a science department
  • Proven track record of helping students and staff
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Registered with the Education Workforce Council
  • DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
