About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Protocol Education. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing essential support to students with special educational needs, working closely with teachers and other staff to ensure an inclusive and positive learning experience for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Assist in planning and delivering tailored learning activities that meet the individual needs of SEN students, ensuring their engagement and participation in the learning process.
  • Support the development of students' skills, including their ability to interact with peers, manage their behavior, and access the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with teachers to create and implement effective Individual Education Plans (IEPs), monitoring and reporting on student progress as required.
  • Help manage classroom behavior, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes respect, empathy, and understanding among all students.
  • Assist with the use of specialized equipment and resources, ensuring their effective integration into the learning environment.
  • Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and professional development opportunities, enhancing your skills and knowledge in supporting students with special educational needs.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience as a Learning Support Assistant, particularly within SEN.
  • Experience working with students with a range of special educational needs in a school setting, demonstrating your ability to adapt to diverse needs and circumstances.
  • Strong understanding of effective support strategies for SEN students, including behavior management, communication, and collaboration with teachers and other staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs, driving your commitment to providing high-quality support and care.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and learning, staying up-to-date with best practices and research in supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one), ensuring your suitability for working with vulnerable children and young people.
