Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Assembly Supervisor is accountable for the SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People) within their designated area. This role involves overseeing several team leaders who assist in achieving critical milestones and KPIs.

The Assembly Supervisor will provide direction to the team, aiding team leaders in managing workloads, addressing issues, and ensuring that quality standards are upheld while promoting a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to project timelines and key delivery milestones.
  • Maintain compliance with allocated project budgets.
  • Manage all technical documentation within the production area.
  • Lead production meetings with essential internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the planning department to meet delivery targets.
  • Assist the Production Manager in conducting interviews as necessary.
  • Foster a safe working environment through safety coaching, accident reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures.
  • Ensure full compliance with 5S practices.
  • Uphold adherence to all local policies and procedures.
  • Build a relationship with the team based on mutual trust; honor commitments and promises.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, providing clear instructions; ensure the team understands their responsibilities.
  • Encourage team members to propose ideas and offer support, learning from both successes and failures.
  • Actively engage in and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a facilitator, providing positive leadership during business challenges.
  • Support DFMA reviews to identify opportunities for optimizing design for manufacturing and assembly.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in manufacturing and assembly processes and techniques.
  • Understanding of production methods and processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and related design data.
  • Competent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in IT applications such as Word, Excel, and MRP & Microsoft Projects.
  • Management skills with the ability to lead and communicate effectively with individuals or teams.
  • Capability to identify root causes of problems and propose viable solutions; recognize patterns in data.

Education:

  • City and Guilds Apprenticeship or equivalent in Vehicle Body Building, Mechanical Fitting, or a Manufacturing and Assembly Qualification.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification is preferred, though training may be provided.

Experience:

  • Experience in vehicle body building, mechanical fitting, or a related trade.
  • Understanding and competence in planning methods and skills.
  • Experience in leading a team, including team leaders.

Additional Requirements:

  • This role requires full-time on-site presence.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.
  • Flexibility may be needed to meet project demands.
