About the Role

The Depot Van Manager will be responsible for the smooth operation of the parcel shop within the Depot, working closely with the Operations Manager to ensure efficient and cost-effective management of day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Management - Oversee the management of parcel shop operations, sortation, and transportation, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • People Management - Recruit, induct, and engage Warehouse drivers, manage their performance and attendance, and submit daily and weekly reports.
  • Compliance - Ensure compliance with domestic driving hours regulations, manage breaks, length of shifts, and rest periods, and provide additional support on driver compliance.
  • Resource Planning - Plan local routes to ensure effective delivery of parcels and optimize the use of rosters.
  • Cost Management - Manage budgets to achieve agreed service levels, including productivity, labor costs, overtime usage, and agency usage.
  • Planning and Budgeting - Collaborate with planning teams and Central Van Manager to plan and prepare for peak periods.

Requirements

  • Transport knowledge and experience, including regulations.
  • Strong operational knowledge of end-to-end processes.
  • CPC National Certificate is desirable.
  • Full driving license is required.
  • IOSH Qualified.
  • Advanced understanding of Management Information and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to understand cost controls, data reports, MI, and KPI metrics.
