Freight Forwarding Clerk Job Description

Freightserve is seeking an experienced Freight Forwarding Clerk to join our team in the Colnbrook area. As a key member of our cargo department, you will be responsible for handling inquiries, discussing requirements, and working on air, road, and sea freight quotes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handling of enquires and discussing requirements with customers
  • Working on air, road, and sea freight quotes
  • Liaising with air, sea, and road carriers regarding routes, schedules, and rates
  • Booking cargo space with air, sea, and road carriers/couriers
  • Preparing all shipping documentations to meet carriage requirements, legislation, and ISO requirements using Boxtop software
  • Building freight jobs in Boxtop
  • Processing customs declarations using Descartes
  • Screening of Freight material (once trained - provided by the company)
  • Daily communication with customers, suppliers, third parties, subcontractors, network offices, and crew regarding the details of the movements
  • Keeping file administration up to date including processing of sales & suppliers invoicing, credit notes, etc.
  • Preparing docs and processing Dangerous Goods shipments following IATADG rules and regulations. (DG training to be provided if required)
Requirements:
  • Experience within a cargo department
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Knowledge of CDS/ CHIEF, CCS UK, airline sheds
  • Knowledge of ETSF warehouse and ETSF import clearances desired, however training can be provided
  • A professional individual with strong communication, presentation, and numerical skills
  • An individual with a genuine desire to grow their skillset with a can-do approach to all tasks set
