The Senior PKI Security Consultant will play a pivotal role in delivering specialized guidance and support on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) solutions tailored for the MoD.
This position encompasses the design, implementation, and management of PKI systems, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of cryptographic principles and PKI standards.
Key Responsibilities:
PKI Architecture Development:
Formulate and execute PKI architectures that comply with MoD security protocols and standards.
PKI Deployment:
Supervise the installation and configuration of PKI components, including Certificate Authorities (CAs), Registration Authorities (RAs), and digital certificates.
Cryptographic Key Management:
Oversee the lifecycle of cryptographic keys, ensuring their security and appropriate utilization.
Security Evaluations:
Perform routine security evaluations of the PKI infrastructure to detect vulnerabilities and propose enhancements.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that PKI systems conform to applicable industry standards and MoD regulations.
Incident Management:
Provide assistance for PKI-related incidents, conducting investigations and implementing corrective measures.
Training and Development:
Create and deliver PKI training programs for MoD personnel.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that PKI solutions align with organizational requirements.
Essential Skills and Experience:
• Profound knowledge of PKI concepts, standards (e.g., X.509), and cryptographic algorithms.
• Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing PKI systems.
• Familiarity with PKI-related protocols (e.g., TLS, S/MIME).
• Proficient in utilizing PKI management tools and software.
• Understanding of security best practices and risk management principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
• Experience within the defence or government sector.
• Knowledge of IT security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
• Relevant certifications in PKI or information security.
