Job Description

Role Overview

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire. As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young people with diverse additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting Learning: Assist in preparing educational materials and adapting lesson plans to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Welfare and Wellbeing: Ensure the physical, social, and emotional welfare and wellbeing of children and young people.
  • Engagement and Interaction: Develop creative and engaging ways to interact with young people, promoting their independence and social skills.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with other professionals, such as speech and language therapists and physiotherapists, to provide comprehensive support.
  • Personal Care: Provide personal care to young people as needed, demonstrating empathy and understanding.

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 6 months of experience in an educational or healthcare setting.
  • Support Experience: Proven experience in supporting children, young people, or adults with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, or physical disabilities.
  • Personal Qualities: A passion for supporting individuals with additional needs, a willingness to provide personal care, and a commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Qualifications: A relevant qualification at Level 2 or higher, such as a Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
