Position Overview: We are in search of a Medication Safety Specialist to spearhead our initiatives aimed at enhancing incident reporting related to medication errors and medical devices. Your role will be pivotal in advocating for safe medication practices and delivering exceptional patient care. This position is ideal for individuals seeking a rewarding challenge and striving for excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies for medication safety.
- Collaborate with management, pharmacists, and nursing staff to drive improvements and disseminate learnings.
- Represent the organization in local and national safety networks.
- Oversee incident reporting, perform root cause analyses, and generate comprehensive, actionable reports.
- Create training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs) focused on patient safety, ensuring compliance and accuracy throughout all processes.

Essential Qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree in Pharmacy.
- Registered with the GPhC and completion of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as per guidelines.
- Substantial experience as a pharmacist in either community or hospital settings.
- Experience in clinical governance and medication safety.
- Proven ability to influence decision-making among key stakeholders.
- Familiarity with change management principles.
- Knowledge of the National Reporting & Learning System (NRLS), NRLS coding, and Yellow Card reporting scheme.
- Understanding of the Never Event Policy and Framework, Serious Incident Framework, Duty of Candour, and RCA methodology.
