About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Ameriprise Financial, specializing in Real Estate. As a key member of our Global Alternatives Legal Team, you will play a critical role in providing legal support for our EMEA Real Estate business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Structuring and Documentation: Collaborate with external counsel and tax experts to draft and advise on product documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Contract Negotiation and Advice: Provide expert legal guidance on contract drafting, negotiation, and review, ensuring alignment with our business objectives.
  • Real Estate Governance and Risk Management: Participate in key committees overseeing the operation of our property business, ensuring effective risk oversight and management.
  • Asset Management and Compliance: Provide legal advice on asset management and property management issues, ensuring compliance with ESG regulations and internal policies.
  • Asset-Level Challenges: Collaborate with internal teams to address asset-level challenges, such as assets with lender financing.
  • Documentation and Collaboration: Work with other support functions to draft documentation reflecting internal group arrangements, such as transfer pricing agreements.
  • Staying Up-to-Date: Maintain knowledge of key developments and issues in relevant areas of law, including real estate funds and commercial property law.
  • Team Supervision and External Counsel Management: Supervise lawyers within the team and manage our panel of external counsel, ensuring seamless provision of legal services.
Requirements
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of PQE, with specialist real estate legal experience preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple developing issues.
  • Qualifications: A strong team player with excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills, able to work independently and maintain open dialogue with senior staff.
