Executive Chef Assistant

We are a dynamic and innovative pub/venue seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for leading by example, mentoring junior staff, and driving excellence in food quality and presentation.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Team Management
- Lead the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef
- Provide guidance and support to junior kitchen staff, including line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating
- Inventory Management and Stock Control
- Oversee and organize kitchen stock and ingredients
- Ensure a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verify all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance
- Food Safety and Quality Assurance
- Verify that food storage units meet standards and are consistently well-managed
- Supervise all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards
- Menu Development and Planning
- Assist the Head Chef with menu creation and development
- Work with the Head Chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities
- Supply Chain Management
- Manage food and product ordering, including keeping detailed records and minimizing waste
- Work with the restaurant management team on supply ordering, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent role in a high-volume kitchen
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food safety and health and safety protocols
- Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
