Duties and Responsibilities:- Provide care for young people through attending to practical matters, establishing positive relationships, and meeting their physical, emotional, behavioral, cultural, and educational needs.
- Act as a role model, demonstrating appropriate pro-social ways of dealing with problems and helping young people gain self-control.
- Ensure each young person's care plan is followed and amended as necessary to reflect their changing needs.
- Take responsibility for a small number of young people, ensuring their needs are fully met, and establishing relationships that are positive, warm, and rewarding.
- Provide advice, assistance, and support on a 1:1 basis, helping young people address past and present difficulties, and providing emotional support during times of stress.
- Be ambitious for young people, helping them achieve their goals and optimize their potential, and providing support for their education and extracurricular activities.
- Keep accurate records and provide written reports on young people for planning meetings, reviews, or other meetings as directed by the line manager.
- Empower young people, facilitating their active involvement in decision-making about their lives and future, and acting as an advocate at meetings where the young person is the subject of discussion.
- Encourage young people to develop links with the community, attend off-site activities, and expand their personal social network.
- Be aware of the aims and objectives of the home and work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve them.
- Attend team/staff meetings and make a positive contribution to them.
- Actively contribute to the development of the team, receiving and storing information to improve communication, and being willing to give and receive feedback on performance with colleagues and managers.
- Be aware of childcare plans for all young people and provide support for colleagues by maintaining consistency in the execution of those plans.
- Provide informal practical and emotional support to colleagues experiencing difficulties, and attend and contribute to regular supervision sessions in line with the National Minimum standards.
- Monitor the conduct of colleagues and refer any causes for concern (whistleblowing), and be familiar with all policies and procedures, adhering to them.
- Attend young people's meetings and contribute to them.
- Drive company vehicles (current driving license holders subject to procedures).
- Receive training appropriate to the role and maintain an up-to-date training profile.
- Be responsible for the accurate maintenance of financial records appropriate to the duties of the post.
- Be responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of self and colleagues in accordance with the requirements of the organizational Health and Safety Policies.
- Carry out all other reasonable tasks as directed by the line manager.
