Octopus Energy is seeking a skilled Energy Trader to join our expanding trading desk. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing transformational solutions to meet the urgent need for energy flexibility.
Key Responsibilities:- Market Analysis: Utilize market-leading analytical tools to make informed, profitable trading decisions.
- Trade Execution: Execute trades within the Intraday Power market to manage Octopus' exposure on its multi-billion pound hedge book.
- Flexible Asset Optimization: Deliver additional value through the optimization of flexible assets in the short-term market.
- PPA Portfolio Management: Trade the changing forecasts of our PPA portfolio.
- Analytics Suite Development: Design and feedback ideas for improvements in the analytics suite, as well as share trading strategy ideas with the rest of the team.
- Algorithmic Trading Strategies: Help to build and design algorithmic trading strategies.
- Risk Management: Liaise with the Trading Manager to ensure short-term exposure risks are understood across the business.
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in commodity trading or a similar field.
- Passion: A passion for the challenge of decarbonization and grid flexibility as the enabler for it.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to synthesize numerical information and make informed decisions quickly.
- Market Knowledge: Eagerness to learn the fundamental drivers of the power market and become a top-performing trader within the market.
- Competitive Spirit: A hunger to perform in a fast-paced and competitive market.
- Attention to Detail: An ability to maintain continued attention to the market, even in times of low market volatility.
