About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Data Engineer to join our team at Higher - AI recruitment. As a key member of our Data Science team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing mid-to-low level data engineering systems, delivering hands-on implementation using various components of our data stack, and fostering a culture of best practices in modularity, scalability, version control, and observability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement data engineering systems that meet the needs of our AI platform
  • Develop and deploy scalable data pipelines using our cloud-agnostic architecture
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address blockers within the team
  • Provide clear communication and decision-making around trade-offs and priorities
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and AI
Requirements
  • 5-7 years' experience as a Backend Engineer or Data Engineer, with at least 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience with data-intensive products, including Big Data and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Proven ability to build scalable data pipelines and work autonomously
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with colleagues at all levels
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Spark or dbt
  • Experience in deploying production systems on multiple cloud platforms
  • Familiarity with MLOps principles and practices in a production setting
