Senior Actuarial Analyst Role

We conduct forward-looking research to monitor the impact of medical advancements on mortality and morbidity risks, as well as social, environmental, and health trends that influence consumer needs. Our comprehensive and systematic research combines medical expertise, actuarial techniques, and data analytics to drive innovation and support the development of new protection benefits and reinsurance solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and embed data science tools and techniques to create actionable insights that drive business value.
  • Conduct research into factors affecting biometric and behavioral risks, and quantify the impact of emerging risks on our central assumptions.
  • Support the implementation of our Branch Data Strategy, improving access to and use of data, and identifying opportunities for data analytics enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Business Development to assess and evaluate the impact of risk definitions and coverage, and develop recommendations for action.
Risks and Controls
  • Ensure adherence to departmental risk and controls processes.
  • Adhere to all local and Group guidelines.
Requirements
  • Nearly or newly qualified Actuary or statistician with 2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with actuarial and data analysis techniques to analyze biometric data.
  • Good understanding of actuarial, statistical, and data science techniques, particularly relating to the interpretation of biometric insurance risks.
  • Knowledge of R or other statistical analysis and data visualization languages/packages.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts and data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Working knowledge of UK long-term protection insurance products and markets.
