Senior/Principal Opto-Mechanical Engineer

Our client, a world leader in the development of products for the scientific and satellite/space industries, is seeking a Senior/Principal Opto-Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Chelmsford.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design of mounting arrangements for optics, ensuring precision and accuracy in structural, dynamic, and thermal environments.
  • Review and validate opto-mechanical designs from sub-contractors, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Assist with requirements management of opto-mechanical technologies, including requirement derivation and reviews.
  • Conduct a range of opto-mechanical analysis, including tolerance, thermal, static, and dynamic analysis.
  • Design mechanical components, utilizing CAD packages to create high-quality designs.
  • Support verification and testing, ensuring that designs meet company standards.
  • Produce gate review documentation, clearly outlining design decisions and rationale.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure high-quality standards are met across the development lifecycle.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of precision mechanical mounting of optics for structural, dynamic, and thermal environments.
  • Ability to review and validate opto-mechanical designs.
  • Competency with CAD packages, including design and analysis tools.
  • Experience in opto-mechanical design and analysis, with a focus on precision and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of requirements management, including requirement derivation and reviews.
  • Experience preparing and presenting design documentation for gate reviews.
