Lead Financial Accountant

The Lead Financial Accountant will play a pivotal role within the accounting and reporting division of Admiral Insurance Plc, overseeing the timely and precise completion of monthly financial reports, regulatory submissions, and statutory financial statements. This position also involves mentoring and guiding other members of the accounting team.
We seek an individual with a proven track record in managing multiple priorities, possessing a comprehensive understanding of the requirements for effective regulatory and financial reporting, along with the associated processes and controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the monthly financial accounts for the UK Intermediary sector, collaborating with various finance teams and Group Finance to resolve any consolidation inquiries.
- Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements.
- Aid in the preparation and review of diverse regulatory and tax filings.
- Evaluate the work and journal entries produced by team accountants.
- Enhance existing control and accounting procedures while driving improvements.
- Lead the design and execution of accounting processes and controls for new products or initiatives as part of the finance transformation agenda.
- Investigate technical accounting matters and draft accounting documentation.
- Support the external audit process and internal audit activities, serving as the primary contact for the entity.
- This role includes line management responsibilities, as well as the daily leadership, development, and coaching of a team of accountants and trainees.
- Provide general assistance and complete ad-hoc tasks as directed by the Finance Manager and Financial Controller.
- Act as a deputy for the Finance Manager when required.
Essential Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- Qualified Accountant with a minimum of several years of post-qualification experience in a Financial Accounting capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
- A commitment to supporting and developing team members to empower them to achieve desired outcomes.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, plan, and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders and teams.
- Strong analytical, data interpretation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable in challenging and influencing a variety of business stakeholders.
- A mindset focused on continuous improvement.
- Self-motivated and proactive in all aspects of the role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with or experience in the finance team of an insurance intermediary.
- Experience in line management.
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring attendance at the office on a weekly basis. We provide all necessary resources to ensure a comfortable remote working experience.
