Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Welding Supervisor to join our team at MacTaggart Scott. As a key member of our Welding department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our welding processes and ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and Delegation: Develop and implement plans to meet customer requirements and project timelines, ensuring that all production processes are carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Supervision of Production Processes: Supervise all production processes in line with the work to list/customer schedule, engineering drawings, and best practice guidance, ensuring that health and safety, COSHH, and quality regulations are adhered to.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all equipment in the department is within calibration and that all necessary maintenance is carried out to prevent downtime.
  • Supply Chain Management: Requisition supplies such as gas, plate, consumables, and welding wire, maintaining agreed budgets for the department.
  • Communication and Liaison: Liaise and communicate with other departments as necessary, building strong working relationships across the business.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all work is completed within estimated timescales and collaborate with operations planning to assist with the correct estimate of time needed for different finishing.
  • Housekeeping and Safety: Promote a clean and safe working environment, ensuring that all workstations are tidy and that personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs and develop and manage departmental plans to ensure that appropriate levels of skills and flexibility are maintained within the department.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously look for ways to improve processes and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and solve problems, planning to achieve goals and meet department targets.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and confidence in dealing with internal customers and departments.
  • Organizational Skills: A methodical and organized work ethic, prioritizing work and setting and meeting deadlines on a weekly basis.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work both on their own and as part of a team.
  • Technical Skills: Good working knowledge of MS Office.
