About the Role

Westlakes Recruit is seeking an experienced Cost Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be based in Warrington or Cumbria and will be responsible for improving the accuracy and visibility of lifecycle reporting for our clients and their stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Project Baseline Budgets: Create and maintain Project Baseline Budgets, including Control Account Plans, Responsibility Assignment Matrix, and WBS Dictionary (SOW).
  • Monitor and Control Project Accruals and Commitments: Responsible for monitoring, controlling, and validating project accruals and commitments, as well as controlling resource and financial forecast data.
  • Financial Change Management: Manage and control financial change management on the project, ensuring alignment with business and contractual requirements.
  • Financial Performance and Cost Reporting: Provide internal and external financial performance and cost reports, including earned value and variation analysis.
Essential Experience
  • Significant Experience in Budgeting and Cost Control: Significant experience of applying budgeting and cost control in a regulated industry environment.
  • Contracting Methodologies: Awareness of various contracting methodologies, including NEC3 and NEC4, including resolution of claims and disputes.
  • Cost Estimating and Project Controls: Previous experience of supporting more junior team members in a cost estimating, cost engineering, or project controls environment.
  • MS Packages: Proficient user of MS packages, namely Excel.
Qualifications
  • HNC Level Qualification: HNC level qualification (or equivalent) in cost engineering or quantity surveying.
  • Bachelor's Degree: Ideally a bachelor's degree in engineering, project, or construction management, or a related field.
  • ECITB QCF Level 5 Diploma: ECITB QCF Level 5 Diploma (or equivalent) in Cost Engineering (Cost Control).
  • Professional Qualification: A professional qualification and membership (e.g., APM, AcostE, RICS) (or equivalent).
